A New Journey A Lifetime of Caring

Pets have a way of finding the people who need them and filling a space we did not even know was empty...
TWO STORIES... ONE JOURNEYLooking back, perhaps Pets Going Places was a journey that began long before either of us knew where it would lead.We both grew up with animals as part of our lives. Horses, dogs and cats weren't simply animals around us; they became companions, teachers and, very often, members of the family.For Ruth, it began with a lesson taught by her mother: that all living creatures deserve respect and that when an animal is placed in our care, we become its trusted guardian.For Lawrence, it grew through a childhood shared with horses and a lifelong love of animals, alongside the loyalty, dependability and quiet willingness to help others that have become such an important part of who he is.Our working lives took us in very different directions.Ruth spent many years in the corporate world, including more than a decade in the global satellite industry, while Lawrence built his career in transportation and technical management.Neither of us could have known that one day those experiences would come together.* A lifetime of loving animals
* Years of professional experience
* And a shared belief in responsibility, compassion and trustThat became the foundation of Pets Going Places.Why We Do Things DifferentlyWe know what it feels like to hand the lead of an animal you love to somebody else.There is a moment when you have to let go and trust another person to take over — to notice if your dog is anxious, if your cat is frightened, if something doesn't seem quite right, or if your pet simply needs a little reassurance along the way.We understand that trust because we are pet owners too.That's why we don't think of the animals travelling with us as cargo, parcels or bookings on a schedule.They are someone's Chloe. Someone's Cooper. Someone's much-loved companion waiting to arrive safely in somebody's arms.And for the time they are with us, they become our responsibility.We believe being a Guardian means more than transporting an animal safely. It means being patient with the nervous one, gentle with the elderly one, understanding the energetic youngster, and treating every animal as an individual.It means doing the right thing when nobody is watching.From Our Family to YoursPets Going Places brings together the things that have shaped both of our lives: our love of animals, Lawrence's knowledge and experience in transport, Ruth's years of professional experience, and the values we were taught long before there was ever a business bearing this name.We may be the people behind Pets Going Places, but the heart of this business will always belong to the animals entrusted to us — and to the families waiting for them at the other end of the journey.Why...because ultimately, we're not simply transporting a pet from one place to another. We're carrying someone you love.RUTH & LAWRENCE HAIGHPets Going Places

Service 2: Air Travel (National Flights)For swift national relocations and seamless worldwide immigration.
Step 1: Expert Travel Consultation
We assess your pet's breed, destination, and timeline. We check airline regulations—especially for snub-nosed breeds—to map out the safest, most direct route possible.Step 2: IATA-Approved Crate Sizing
A safe flight starts with the perfect fit. We use your pet's exact physical measurements to source or verify an IATA-compliant (International Air Transport Association) rigid travel crate, ensuring they can stand, turn, and lie down comfortably.Step 3: The Bureaucracy & Paperwork
We handle the stress of the paperwork. From microchipping and Rabies Titre tests to securing export permits from the Department of Agriculture (DALRRD) and official State Vet health stamps, we make sure your pet is fully cleared for departure.Step 4: Airport Check-In & Flight Tracking
We transport your pet to the airport cargo terminal and manage the complex airline manifest check-in process. Once the plane is wheels-up, we provide you with real-time tracking details so you can monitor their journey.Step 5: Safe Arrival & Clearances
For domestic flights, we collect your pet from the cargo terminal and deliver them right to your new door. For international moves, we coordinate with trusted global clearing agents to manage customs and quarantine smoothly at the final destination.
Service 1: Domestic Road Transport (Door-to-Door)For local moves and long-distance inter-provincial relocations across South Africa.
Step 1: The Tailored Quote
Fill out our quick online form with your pet’s details. Because no two journeys are the same, we build a custom, pocket-friendly quote based on your exact route. A 50% deposit secures your pet's seat.Step 2: Safety First (Health Check)
To protect all our furry passengers, we require a copy of your pet’s valid Vet Vaccination Booklet. All dogs and cats must be up-to-date on standard vaccinations (including Rabies) and treated for ticks/fleas.Step 3: Chauffeur Collection
We arrive at your doorstep in our secure, temperature-controlled transit vehicle. Your pet is settled into a spacious, sanitized travel crate with plenty of cozy bedding, a settling-in cuddle, and an optional road trip snack!Step 4: Comfort Stops & Live Updates
We never drive straight through. Our team stops every 3 to 4 hours for secure leash walks (for dogs), fresh water refills, and litter box access (for cats). You will receive WhatsApp photo updates at every single stop so you can see how happy your pet is!Step 5: Safe Doorstep Delivery
We deliver your pet safely to their new home, hand them directly to the designated receiver, check their well-being, and finalize the remaining balance.
